We had planned for our Friday in Mui Ne to be a day of relaxation.
Ed was going to do some more kitesurfing and I was going to relax with a good book before enjoying a 2 and a half hour spa package in the afternoon.
Plans change.
Firstly, another day with very little wind meant Ed was beach bound again. Then, mid morning we had a message from our travel agent, Tam to say the sleeper train from Mui Ne to Danang only had 6 berth sleeper cabins available. After some research on the internet, we really didn’t fancy being squashed in like sardines for 12 hours with possibly only a squat toilet at the end of the carriage. No thanks.
Our original plan had been to follow the coast up to Hoi An then onto the old French colonial capital of Hue before heading to Hanoi for our trip to Halong Bay and to extend our visa.
After a few hours research we completely rehashed our ideas. We would now take a bus to Nha Trang on Saturday, then fly to Hanoi Sunday morning. From Hanoi we would visit the northern mountains of Sapa and Halong Bay. Once we extend our visa, we will come back down the coast to Hue and Hoi An.
We haven’t had too many complete rehashes while we’ve been travelling, but every now and again, things happen. Luckily, with very little booked we’re able to be flexible.
My expensive (£20!) two and a half hour spa treatment, with a body scrub, full body massage, facial and manicure certainly helped with relaxing after a hectic morning.
