29th December 2009

Our last full day in New Zealand today, and the weather has improved again. After breakfast we made our over to Akaroa for a final mooch around, and it was a bit quieter than it had been yesterday afternoon, although the beach was still quite busy - hardly surprising given how nice the weather was.

We also found an interesting sculpture of a painter with an invisible canvas.

We picked up a couple of baguettes from the local deli and went up to Heritage Park, a few kilometres out of Akaroa. This location offered some lovely views over the Bay, and made for a nice setting for a picnic.

After lunch we were going to make our way back to Hinewai Park where we had walked a couple of days ago, to see what the views were really like. Unfortunately as we crested the top of the hill, the cloud had filled the valley on the other side, making going to the viewpoint pointless again.

Instead we went back to Halfmoon Cottage and lounged around in the hammocks for a couple of hours before starting our packing ready for heading off to Oz tomorrow.
